Part Time Travel Consultant

What does the job requires you to do?
Generally the tasks and responsibilities of a travel consultant are:
- To design, plan and prepare tailor-made holidays to worldwide destinations.

- Promote the store through promotions and leafleting.
- Be presentable with a uniform provided.
- Up sell on excursions, flight upgrades, and relevant travel products.
- Work and achieve your own and shop targets.
- Etc.

Experience not necessary but would be an advantage:
- You have worked in a busy travel agency.
- Must have worked and sold long haul holidays.
- Proven experience in reaching targets.
- Can handle working in a highly focused environment.
- Able to take on new challenges that occur in a retail environment.
- Take ownership and work unsupervised at times.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be adept also with technology, internet and software used in the travel and tourism industry.

Qualification / Certification:
To obtain travel-agent certificate/ qualification, you must be certified through a nationally accredited program. This certification program includes classes specific to the field, including computer classes (learning documentation), geography and business marketing.

Some schools, technical colleges and select universities offer this certification program. Most programs last only a few months; however, depending on the school, certification can take up to two years.

Apart from earning certification, a background in business management, foreign languages and computers is advantageous for this career.

Usually Travel & tourism qualification is desirable but not essential as the training will be provided to successful candidate.
